Pigment Problems, Warts

Treatment Mechanisms
The main laser instrument for laser resurfacing is SWOT Ultra Pulse CO2 laser. We connect a so-called scanner to the carbon dioxide laser. This means that laser light is focused in a number of points (called fractional-scanning) of the skin thus creating a very superficial and even evaporation of the skin. The light is absorbed in the outermost layer of the skin and thus becomes heated.
Laser light has some remarkable properties. One such is that you vaporize away a very shallow layer (about one tenth of a millimeter) of the outer skin so you get a special rejuvenating effect on the new skin that is formed when a very superficial burn injury heals. Among other things, this is proved byt he reduction of wrinkles and acne scars, pigmentation disorders, etc.
Can all be treatet?
In principle, yes. But we do not do treatments if you take medicine, such as anticoagulants or similar.
Processing Time
The whole process takes from about 10-15 minutes. Usually you can put a stunning ointment (Emla) one hour before treatment. An entire face takes about an hour, around the eyes for about 30 minutes. Neck, hands and other body parts considered individually.
Things to consider before treatment
You should refrain from sunbathing. Not because that the skinregeneratation get worse, but because of a higher risk of hyperpigmentation.
Numbers of treatments
For most it will take only one treatment for satisfactory results. Some would supplement after a few years. The skin becomes more even up to one year, then continuing to the normal wrinkling. Some repeat the treatment after 5-10 years.
Treatment Results
You can see the full effect after 6-9 months, in some cases up to one year. The laser is best for small fine wrinkles that occures around the eyes and mouth. Already after a few weeks you can see the new skin (skinregeneration), which is very thin. This ”babyskin” is smooth and fine. Over time, it give shine and smoothness that the old skin very much appreciates. As time goes on the collagen layes get growing of itself and the small wrinkles smoothed out. One can easily express it as the new skin is slightly thicker than the old stretched skin and therby removes some of the fine lines.
Treatment Reaction and risks
The method is based on a superficial burn on the skin that normally gives a thin scab after the treatment. As with all burns, it can heat afterwards. Crust should be left to remain until it falls of by itself (do not tear the scabs because then they can become infected and if so, a risk of scarring). Sometimes temporary pigment changes occures, especially in those who have been sunbathing. During the healing process the skin usuallt itch, it is then important not to scratch because of the infection risk and the risk of scarring.
After the scabs have fallen off a blushing area remains. Usually, the wound healing is 1-2 weeks. During the subsequent healing phase (approximately 2 months), the colour changes gradually to normal skin colour and the new skin is becoming less wrinkled.
